Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents his initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
