Cars in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers mentioned they were contacted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.

A senior representative commented the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
